Err Msg: Application Manager Cannot Install this Application...

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint on a Handheld PC (H/PC), you may receive the following error message:

Application manager cannot install this application on your mobile device due to an invalid setup file. Reinstall and try again.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if files from a previous installation of Pocket PowerPoint remain on the H/PC or the desktop computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove Pocket PowerPoint from both the H/PC and the desktop computer. To do so, follow these steps:

1. On the H/PC, tap Start, tap Settings, and then tap Control Panel.



2. Double-tap Remove Programs.



3. Tap Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint, and then tap Remove.



4. On the desktop computer, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.



5. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.



6. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click "Microsoft Pocket PowerPoint 1.0 for Windows CE (Remove Only)," and then click Add/Remove.
