WinCE Err Msg: Sync Initialization Error 8007000e

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows CE for the Palm-size PC
  • Microsoft Windows CE Services version 2.1

SYMPTOMS

On a desktop computer, when you click the Channel Items check box in the ActiveSync Options dialog box to select it, you may receive the following error message:

Sync initialization error 8007000e.
After you synchronize the Palm-size PC (P/PC), you may also see the following message in the Connection Status dialog box
<n> items are out-of-date
where <n> is the number of files that did not synchronize.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later is not installed on the desktop computer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install Internet Explorer version 4.01 from the Microsoft Windows CE CD-ROM. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the Windows CE CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent the Windows CE Setup program from starting automatically.


  2. On the desktop computer, double-click My Computer.


  3. Right-click the Windows CE (CD-ROM drive) icon, and then click Explore.


  4. Double-click the Optional Components folder.


  5. Double-click the Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 4.01 folder.


  6. Double-click the Ie4setup.exe file. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Internet Explorer on the desktop computer.
