WinCE: How to Install the Dial-Up Networking 1.2 Upgrade

This article describes how to install the Dial-Up Networking 1.2 Upgrade from the Windows CE Services CD-ROM.

Dial-Up Networking 1.2 provides services that make it possible for a Handheld PC (H/PC) to make a remote connection to your desktop computer.

Before you install the Dial-Up Networking 1.2 Upgrade, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click Network Neighborhood, and then click Properties.


  2. Double-click "TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter" (If you have only one adapter listed, double-click TCP/IP).


  3. On the Bindings tab, click the Client For Microsoft Networks checkbox to select it.


  4. Click OK, and then click OK.


To install the Dial-Up Networking 1.2 Upgrade from the Windows CE Services CD-ROM, follow these steps:
  1. On the desktop computer, insert the Windows CE Services CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the "Welcome to the Windows CE Services" CD-ROM screen appears, click Optional Components. If the "Welcome to the Windows CE Services" CD-ROM screen does not appear, double-click My Computer, double-click the CD-ROM drive that contains the Windows CE Services CD-ROM, and then double-click the Optional Components folder.


  2. Double-click the Microsoft Dial-Up Networking Upgrade Version 1.2 folder, and then double-click the Msdun12.exe program.


  3. Follow the instructions on the screen. If you are prompted with a "do you want to keep a newer file" dialog box, always keep the newer file.


NOTE: You may need your Windows 95 CD-ROM to complete the Dial-Up Networking 1.2 Upgrade.
