Err Msg: One Message Cannot Be Read from Microsoft Outlook...

SYMPTOMS

When you synchronize your Handheld PC (H/PC) with your desktop computer, you may receive the following error message for each appointment synchronized:

ActiveSync Error

One message cannot be read from Microsoft Outlook due to an unknown error. This item will not be synchronized with the mobile device. Unknown Error 80180202.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you are synchronizing with Microsoft Outlook 98 using offline folders. Outlook 98 Setup automatically disables offline usage if Windows CE Services 1.0 is installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. In Outlook 98, click Services on the Tools menu.



2. On the Services tab, click Exchange Server, and then click Properties.



3. On the Advanced tab, click the Enable Offline Use check box to clear it.



4. Click OK, click OK again, and then quit and restart Outlook 98.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
