When you configure Windows CE Services to use the Only while the Mobile Devices window is open option of the Auto Connect feature, the Windows CE device may or may not be disconnected when you close the Mobile Devices window. This depends on the version of Windows CE Services you use.

Windows CE Services 2.2

If you use Windows CE Services version 2.2, the Windows CE device does not disconnect from your computer when you close the Mobile Devices window.

Windows CE Services 2.1

If you use Windows CE Services version 2.1, the Windows CE device disconnects from your computer when you close the Mobile Devices window.
