BUG: HttpSendRequest Hangs over SSL on WinCE 2.11

ID: Q238823

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows CE version 2.11 for the Palm-size PC
  • Microsoft Windows CE version 2.11 for the Handheld PC

SYMPTOMS

HttpSendRequest hangs over secure socket layer (SSL) when INTERNET_FLAG_SECURE flag is passed to HttpOpenRequest. This takes place on Windows CE 2.11 Palm-size PC and Windows CE 2.11 Handheld PC.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

As a workaround on Windows CE 2.11 Handheld PC InternetOpenUrl can be used to submit a request over SSL. This solution however doesn't work for Windows CE 2.11 Palm-sized devices.

In the latter case InternetOpenUrl API fails with the error 10043 (The requested protocol has not been configured into the system, or no implementation for it exists).
