SUMMARY

This article describes the availability of Microsoft ActiveSync 3.0.

MORE INFORMATION

With ActiveSync 3.0, you can synchronize information between your desktop computer and your Windows CE-based device.

New Features Included with ActiveSync 3.0

  • Dial-Up Networking (DUN) or Remote Access Server (RAS) is no longer required.

  • Automatic connection speed feature improves connections between your desktop personal computer and a Windows CE-based device.

ActiveSync 3.0 improves on earlier versions of the Microsoft Windows CE ActiveSync program by making installation easier and increasing performance. To make installation easier, the installation and configuration of DUN or RAS is not required on the desktop computer. To increase performance, ActiveSync 3.0 can communicate directly with the Windows CE-based device using a serial or infrared port. ActiveSync 3.0 can also automatically adjust the connection speed of your desktop computer to the connection speed supported by your Windows CE-based device.
