Calibration Instructions Refer to Unavailable Test Button

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SideWinder game pad, version 1.0
  • Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro, version 1.0


SYMPTOMS

When you use the Gaming Devices tool in Control Panel to calibrate a legacy gaming device, you are prompted to click Test to check the settings or Finish to accept the settings when the calibration process is finished. However, the Test button may not be available.

NOTE: This behavior occurs with both the Microsoft SideWinder Gaming Devices software version 1.0 (originally included with Microsoft SideWinder game pad version 1.0) and the Microsoft SideWinder Gaming Devices software version 1.5.


RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, click Finish, and then click the Test tab to check the settings. If the settings are incorrect, follow these steps:

  1. Click Settings, and then select the settings you want.


  2. Click Calibrate.


  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to calibrate the game device.


  4. Click Finish, and then click Test to check the calibration.


  5. Repeat steps 1-4 as needed.
