SYMPTOMSYour computer may not recognize that your SideWinder game pad is connected to the game port. The Gaming Devices tool in Control Panel may report that your SideWinder game pad is not connected. CAUSEThe interrupt delay setting for the game port on the sound card may be preventing the computer from recognizing your SideWinder game pad. RESOLUTION
Microsoft has created the Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad Configuration
Utility (Configsw.exe).

You do not need to download this file if the Microsoft SideWinder Game Controller software version 3.0 or later software is installed on your computer. However, Configsw.exe requires that your SideWinder game pad be connected to the game port. MORE INFORMATIONConfigsw.exe allows the Microsoft SideWinder Gaming Devices software to work more effectively with some sound cards. Configsw.exe optimizes the interrupt delay of the SideWinder game pad, depending on the sound card you have installed.
