Game Does Not Detect Keystrokes Assigned to SideWinder 3D Pro

ID: Q167403

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro for Macintosh, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

When you assign keystrokes to the Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro for Macintosh using the SideWinder Game Device Editor, some games may not respond as expected to keystrokes you assign to joystick movements.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you move the SideWinder 3D Pro joystick rapidly. In addition, this behavior is more likely to occur on computers with slower or less powerful processors.

RESOLUTION

To reduce the occurrence of this behavior, quit all programs except the SideWinder Game Device Editor and the game you want to play, and then use Extensions Manager to disable all extensions except the SideWinder 3D Pro Extension and any other extensions you need to play the game.

This behavior does not occur when you use Apple's InputSprocket technology. If possible, update your game to a version that supports InputSprocket technology.

For additional information about games that do not need to use the Game Device Editor, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
