SideWinder 3D Pro Interferes with Energy Saver or Screen Saver

SYMPTOMS

Your computer's energy saver or screen saver may not start as expected after a set period of inactivity.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when your SideWinder 3D Pro for Macintosh is configured for joystick mode. Your computer may detect activity from your SideWinder 3D Pro that prevents your energy saver or screen saver from being activated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, configure your SideWinder 3D Pro for mouse mode.

To do this, move the switch on the front of the SideWinder 3D Pro under the word "Microsoft" to the position with two black dots.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro for Macintosh, version 1.0.
