Crosshairs Are Not Centered When Calibrating Joystick

ID: Q173686

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro, version 1.0

SUMMARY

MORE INFORMATION

Because the joystick is being calibrated, and not tested, the position of the crosshairs is not important. During calibration, the crosshairs are used only to provide an indication that the joystick is being moved.

When you calibrate the joystick, do not position the joystick to place the crosshairs in the center of the Axes window because this does not calibrate the device correctly.

SYMPTOMS

When you calibrate a joystick or other gaming device, the crosshairs representing the position of the axes may not appear in the center of the Axes window when you set the joystick's range of motion and center position.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
