SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft SideWinder Game Device software Setup program installs shortcut icons on the desktop and taskbar. The shortcut icons appear before Setup is finished. If you double-click one of the shortcut icons before Setup is finished, you may receive one of the following error messages:

This program requires the file Profmgr.dll, which was not found on this system.

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, click OK or Close, and then wait until Setup is finished before you attempt to start the SideWinder Game Device software again.
