SUMMARY

This article describes how to calibrate the SideWinder 3D Pro joystick for the Macintosh.

MORE INFORMATION

The SideWinder 3D Pro for Macintosh supports two modes: Joystick mode and Mouse mode. You set the mode by moving the switch at the base of the joystick (above the cord). Position one (one dot) is Joystick mode; select this mode to use the SideWinder 3D Pro as a standard joystick. Position two (two dots) is Mouse mode; select this mode to use the SideWinder 3D Pro as a mouse.

For optimal performance, you may need to calibrate the SideWinder 3D Pro in each of these modes.

Calibrate the SideWinder 3D Pro in Joystick Mode

To calibrate the SideWinder 3D Pro for Macintosh in Joystick mode, use the following steps:

  1. Move the switch to the position with one dot.

  2. Restart the computer. When the computer starts, the joystick calibrates itself in Joystick mode.

NOTE: Make sure that nothing is touching the joystick while the computer restarts. If anything is touching the joystick when the computer starts, the joystick may be calibrated incorrectly.

Calibrate the SideWinder 3D Pro in Mouse Mode

Set the SideWinder 3D Pro to Mouse mode by moving the switch to the position with two dots.

The joystick is calibrated in Mouse mode when you move the switch from position one to position two.

NOTE: Make sure that nothing is touching the joystick when the switch is moved. If anything is touching the joystick, it may not be calibrated correctly.
