SYMPTOMS

When you reach the end of the Setup program for Shadows of the Empire and you choose to install DirectX 5.0, you may receive the following error message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

When you click Details, you receive the following information:

INSTDX50 caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at...

CAUSE

This error message can occur if you already have DirectX version 5.0 installed.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this error message, do not select the Install DirectX 5.0 Now check box if DirectX 5.0 is already installed. When you receive the error message, you can continue using your computer normally.
