SideWinder: How to Configure the Acer Magic FX-3D Game Port

SUMMARY

Some versions of the Acer Magic FX-3D sound card installation program may assign a non-standard input/output (I/O) range to the game port. Microsoft SideWinder game devices require a game port I/O range between 0200-0200 and 0209-0209. The standard game port I/O range is 0201-0201.

To configure the Acer FX-3D game port to use the standard I/O range, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.



2. Double-click System.



3. On the Device Manager tab, double-click Sound, Video And Game Controllers.



4. Double-click Acer FX-3D Gameport Joystick.



5. On the Resources tab, click the Use Automatic Settings check box to clear it.



6. In the Setting Based On box, click Basic Configuration 0000.



7. Check the Conflicting Device List box to make sure no device conflicts are listed.



8. Click OK, and then click Yes.



9. Click OK. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
