SideWinder Profile Editor: Extra Characters in Event Viewer

SYMPTOMS

When you use SideWinder Profile Editor to create or edit a game profile, if you press a button on the SideWinder game device at the same time you press and hold down the Shift button on the joystick or the Macro button on the game pad, you may see extra characters in the event viewer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you assign an action to a game device button, press the Shift button on the joystick or the Macro button on the game pad, and then assign a new action to the same game controller button.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, press the button that you want to edit on the game device, and then press the Shift key on the joystick or the Macro key on the game pad to change the state of the button.

MORE INFORMATION

The event viewer is located at the bottom of the SideWinder Profile Editor window. When you press a game device button, the event viewer shows the actions assigned to that button.
