SideWinder: Device Does Not Work with Turtle Beach Montego Card

SYMPTOMS

When you connect one of the SideWinder digital gaming devices listed at the beginning of this article to the game port on a Turtle Beach Systems Montego sound card, the device may not perform properly.

In addition, the device may display a "Not Connected" status in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel.

NOTE: The Turtle Beach Systems Montego sound card is based on the Aureal Vortex AU8820 chipset.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the default Port Driver setting in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel is not compatible with the Turtle Beach Systems Montego sound card.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the default Port Driver setting in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click Game Controllers.


  3. Click the Advanced tab.


  4. In the Port Driver box, click TBS Montego Joystick Interface, and then click OK.


  5. Close Control Panel, and then restart the computer.
