SideWinder: Return to Center Force Is Felt When Testing Joystick

SYMPTOMS

When you test a Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Pro joystick in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel, you may feel the Return to Center force even though the Return To Center slider is in the Off position.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you disconnect a SideWinder Force Feedback Pro joystick, and then connect a SideWinder game pad without shutting down the computer.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, shut down the computer before you connect the SideWinder game pad.
