MNK Pro: Keyboard Is Not Detected or LED Lights Do Not Work Properly

SYMPTOMS

When you connect a Microsoft Internet Keyboard or a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro to a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port on your computer, you may experience the following symptoms:

  • The keyboard may not be detected by the operating system during the startup sequence.


  • The LED lights on the keyboard may not work properly.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the USB Host Controller in your computer uses the Open Host Controller Interface (OHCI).


RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, connect the keyboard to both the USB and PS/2 ports on your computer.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
