ID: Q183273

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft IntelliPoint software versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.1

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install the IntelliPoint software, you may receive the following message:

Insert the disk labeled "Disk 1"
Additionally, you are not able to continue running Setup though disk 1 is in the floppy drive.

CAUSE

You receive this message if temporary files used by the IntelliPoint software Setup program are deleted during installation.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, verify that you have enough free space available on the drive containing your Windows installation before you begin the IntelliPoint software Setup program. You need at least 12.2 megabytes (MB) of free hard disk space to install the IntelliPoint software and an additional 6 MB for the temporary files needed by the Setup program.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Windows 98 includes the Disk Cleanup tool. If Disk Cleanup detects that your hard disk is low on free space during the IntelliPoint software installation, it may prompt you to delete temporary files. If you choose to delete the files, the temporary files necessary to complete the IntelliPoint software installation are deleted and Setup does not complete.
