IntelliMouse: Page Fault When Scrolling Through Excel Workbook

• Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
• Microsoft IntelliMouse version 1.0
• Microsoft IntelliMouse TrackBall version 1.0
• Microsoft IntelliPoint software versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.1, 2.2

SYMPTOMS

When you use the IntelliMouse wheel to scroll through a Microsoft Excel workbook, you may receive the following error message:

Excel caused an invalid page fault in module Mso97.dll.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the following conditions exist:

• The Excel workbook contains multiple worksheets.



• You freeze a pane in one or more of the worksheets.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. Click the first worksheet in the Excel workbook.



2. On the Window menu, click Unfreeze Panes.



3. Repeat steps 1-2 for the remaining worksheets in the workbook.
