Pointer Trails Appear Shorter When Using IntelliMouse USB

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Microsoft IntelliMouse USB with the Display Pointer Trails feature enabled, the pointer trails appear shorter than the pointer trails displayed by a mouse connected to a serial or PS/2 port.


RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, increase the length of the pointer trails. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click Mouse.


  3. Click the Visibility tab.


  4. Under Trails, click Settings.


  5. Move the slider all the way to the right (the Long position), and then click OK.


  6. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed in the applies to section of this article.
