USB Devices Not Detected When Connected to ASUS Motherboard

SYMPTOMS

When you attach any of the Microsoft hardware devices listed at the beginning of this article to the Universal Serial Bus (USB) port on your computer, your computer may not detect the device.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if an ASUS motherboard is installed in your computer.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact ASUS to inquire about how to obtain and install a USB hub for your computer.

MORE INFORMATION

Some ASUS motherboards have a 47 ohm resistor at R232 on the motherboard that reduces the power supply for USB devices to an inadequate level.
