IntelliPoint: Wheel Button Does Not Function Within Game

SYMPTOMS
When you use the Microsoft Wheel Mouse within a game, the wheel button
may not function as the middle (or third) button.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the following conditions are true:
- The Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 3.0 is installed on
your computer.
- You have assigned the wheel button to function as the middle (or
third) button within the game.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.
- Turn off DirectInput in the game (if available).
NOTE: You may need to consult your game manufacturer for
instructions about how to do this.
- Reassign the wheel button to a different function within the
game.
- Reassign the wheel button in the Mouse tool in Control Panel
to a function that works within the game.
To reassign the wheel button to a different function in the Mouse
tool in Control Panel:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then
click Control Panel.
- Double click Mouse.
- Click the Buttons tab.
- In the Wheel Button box, click the function you want
to use.
- Click Apply, and then OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article.
