MS-DOS 2.x Does Not Recognize \Mouse1\Mouse

ID: Q28499

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Mouse driver for MS-DOS, versions 6.x, 7.x

SUMMARY

After running the mouse setup routine and rebooting your machine, Microsoft Mouse driver versions 6.x and 7.x do not install on systems with MS-DOS versions 2.x.

This information applies to Microsoft Mouse driver versions 6.x and 7.x on systems running MS-DOS versions 2.x.

MORE INFORMATION

Because MS-DOS versions 2.x do not recognize the PATH statement in command lines (for example, \mouse1\mouse in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file), the mouse driver never installs.

To work around this, edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to change the directory to your MOUSE1 subdirectory. Then, directly call the Mouse and Control Panel as follows:

   cd \mouse1
   mouse
   cpanel
   cd\
