Cannot View Help When Ratings Service Is Enabled

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to view Help in Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh, you may be prompted to enter the Recreational Software Advisory Council (RSAC) Ratings Service supervisor password and the following error message may be displayed:

Sorry! Content Advisor will not allow you to see this site. Authorization failed: Site unrated.
If you enter the correct supervisor password and click OK, the error message is displayed again. If you do not enter a supervisor password and repeatedly click OK, the Web page associated with Help may load properly.

If you click Cancel when you are prompted to enter the supervisor pass- word, the following error message is displayed:
You are not permitted to view this page. The attempt to load 'file:///<help>.htm' failed.


CAUSE

The RSAC Ratings Service has been enabled and has been configured so that you cannot access Web pages that have no rating. The Web pages associated with Help for Internet Explorer for Macintosh are not rated.


RESOLUTION

To configure Internet Explorer so that you can view Help, follow these steps:

  1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.


  2. On the Ratings tab, click Options. Note that if you previously created a supervisor password, you are prompted to enter the password when you click Options.


  3. Click the "User can see sites which have no rating" check box to select it, click OK, and then click OK again.
