The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft Personal Web Server for Windows 95
-
Microsoft Windows 95
SYMPTOMS
When you close the Network dialog box, networking files may be copied even
though you have not made any changes.
CAUSE
This behavior is caused by two .dll files (Secur32.dll and Svrapi.dll)
installed by Personal Web server. The versions of these files include the
following:
Personal Web Server
Secur32.dll 25,088 bytes 08/19/960 09:47 AM
Svrapi.dll 13,312 bytes 08/28/96 05:14 PM
The correct versions of these files are as follows:
Windows 95
Secur32.dll 25,088 bytes 07/11/95 09:50 AM
Svrapi.dll 13,312 bytes 07/11/95 09:50 AM
Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2)
Secur32.dll 25,088 bytes 08/24/96 11:11 AM
Svrapi.dll 13,312 bytes 08/24/96 11:11 AM
NOTE: This behavior can also occur when you install the Dial-Up Networking
1.2 upgrade
RESOLUTION
Replace the two .dll files with the original versions included with
Windows 95. To do so, use the appropriate method for your version of
Windows.
Windows 95
- In Control Panel, double-click Network. (To access Control Panel, Click
Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.)
- Close the Network dialog box without making any changes.
- When you are prompted whether to keep the existing versions of the
files, click No.
NOTE: If a Version Conflict dialog box prompting you whether to keep
the existing files does not appear, use the steps in the "Windows 95
OSR2" section of this article to resolve the issue.
- Restart your computer.
Windows 95 OSR2
- Extract the Secur32.dll and Svrapi.dll files from your original source
