SYMPTOMS
The Internet Transfer Control (ITC), which is shipped with Visual Basic, causes and Access Violation with Internet Explore 5 when both FTP and HTTP functionality is used. CAUSEThis problem is caused by the bug in Wininet.dll, shipped with Internet Explorer 5, which is used by the control. RESOLUTIONUse WinInet API directly from Visual Basic as an alternate solution that achieves similar functionality. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.This bug was corrected in Internet Explorer 5.01. Internet Explorer 5.01 is available for download from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/. REFERENCES
