The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit version 4.01a
-
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.01, 4.01 Service Pack 1 for Windows 95
SUMMARY
This article describes how to include a Microsoft Internet Explorer fix to
an Internet Explorer distribution created with the Internet Explorer
Administration Kit (IEAK).
MORE INFORMATION
Follow these steps to create the IEAK generated Internet Explorer
distribution with one or more fixes included:
- If you have not already done so, get the latest version of IEAK on the
Microsoft WWW server (http://ieak.microsoft.com). Run it and select the
Synchronize button. It will automatically download the latest Internet
Explorer files for you to use.
- When you determine that you have a valid fix EXE to use, incorporate the
QFE<number>.exe into the IEAK. Using the IEAK Wizard, enter the options
you want to add in the Specify Custom Active Setup Components. When you
add the component using the wizard, you must specify /Q:A /R:N /N:V for
the parameters. If you do not specify these parameters, the EXE will not
install properly.
The Specify Custom Active Setup Components option is where you add the
QFE<number>.exe to the IEAK. Select the Add button and browse to choose
the EXE. Make sure you select the Generate button to create a GUID (if
you do not create a GUID, this will not work). Likewise, make sure that
you name the component (any name you choose will do) in the Component
edit box on this page.
- Continue using the IEAK Wizard, selecting your option, until you reach
the Select Installation Options page. Make sure you add your custom
component (the name you gave in step 3) from the Components Available
list box to the "Components to Install" list box.
- Continue using the IEAK Wizard, and generate the Internet Explorer
install build. Your Internet Explorer install build will now add the
Internet Explorer fix automatically when you install Internet Explorer.
