SUMMARY

This article describes how to distribute Internet Explorer from a network share.

MORE INFORMATION

You cannot use the files created for a download build to distribute Internet Explorer from a network share. You must create a CD build, and use the copy of Ie4setup.exe that is located in the following path:

drive letter:\path\CD\Win95\EN\packages
where drive letter is the drive your build is stored on and path is the path to the build.

To create a CD build, simply go through the Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) and specify "CD-ROM" on the "Select Media to Distribute Your Browser" screen.

You only need to place the Packages directory on your network share and start your install by running the Ie4setup.exe in the Packages folder. This file will look in the path it was launched from for the .cab files.

Note: You should also use the contents of the Packages directory when you install through Microsoft Systems Management Server.
