IEAK Does Not Include 128-Bit Encryption of Internet Explorer

ID: Q209421

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit versions 4.0, 4.01, 4.01a, 5.0

SYMPTOMS

Both the compact-disc version and the Web-site version of the IEAK generate a version of Internet Explorer with 40-bit encryption.

RESOLUTION

An addendum to the IEAK is available to upgrade the 40-bit version of Internet Explorer to the 128-bit version. This component has been developed specifically for the IEAK and can be included with an IEAK package. The component contains a self-extracting .exe file (Ie4dom.exe for Internet Explorer 4.x packages and Ie5dom.exe for Internet Explorer 5.0 packages), which can be installed as a custom component in the IEAK.

The following Web page provides all the necessary information required to obtain the 128-bit encryption addendum:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ieak/en/download/128/default.asp
Microsoft Product Support Services cannot send customers this update as Microsoft must legally verify that a person or company is US based. This is a US encryption technology requirement.

MORE INFORMATION

To obtain the 128-bit Addendum for IEAK 4.x, request the IEAK 5.0 addendum. Send e-mail to ieak@microsoft.com requesting that the IEAK 4.x addendum be sent. Include your name and customization code.
