Changes to Security Settings in .ins File Do Not Take Effect
ID: Q240912
|
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit version 5.0
SYMPTOMS
When you make a change to the security settings of your .ins file, the changes may not be implemented in the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the security settings are not being updated automatically.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior:
- In the IEAK Profile Manager program, open the .ins file.
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows NT Explorer.
- Go to the location of the .ins file and delete the Name_config.cab folder, where Name is the name used when creating the original file.
- Change the security settings in the .ins file, and then on the File menu, click Save.
NOTE: When you make changes to the security setting in the .ins file, a new Name_config.cab file is created. The new file updates the security settings of all Internet Explorer computers using the .ins file for auto updating.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Explorer Administration Kit version 5.0.
