Web Page Contains a Large Blank Space

SYMPTOMS

When you are viewing a Web page in Internet Explorer 3.0, there may be a large blank space on the page.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if an <HR> tag in the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) document contains the following statement:


   SIZE="-<x>" 
where <x> is any negative number. For example:

   <HR SIZE="-1"> 
This statement results in a line break followed by a large blank space.


STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.


MORE INFORMATION

The <HR> tag draws a horizontal line across the Web page. The Size statement sets the height and depth of the line in pixels.
