MIDI File Played with "Tiny" Media Player in Internet Explorer

ID: Q154371

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.0 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you start a musical instrument digital interface (MIDI) file that is linked to a Web page from within Internet Explorer 3.0, Media Player starts in play mode, without a toolbar for starting or ending a selection, among other options. Only the commands for playing and stopping Media Player are visible.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design. MIDI files are not assigned a content type for Internet Explorer 3.0 as are .wav files. Therefore, Media Player is most efficiently started in "tiny" mode by default.

RESOLUTION

To access the other options available in Media Player, double-click the Media Player title bar.
