Word Document Displayed Differently with Frames

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Word document in a Web page without frames, the Word toolbar is displayed. However, Web pages with frames do not display a toolbar when opening a Word document.

CAUSE

This is a result of the ability of Word components to handle active windows. When you open a document in Internet Explorer, the toolbar is not available if the Web page uses frames.

RESOLUTION

To see the Word toolbar, the document must be opened in Internet Explorer in a web page designed without frames. From the original page, check to see if there is a non-frame version of the page available to view.
