SYMPTOMSWhen you type a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) in the Address box in Internet Explorer, it may be converted to an Internet Protocol (IP) address. For example, if you type http://www.microsoft.com/ieInternet Explorer may convert it to: http://198.105.232.4/ie/ CAUSEThe Web server you are connecting to may be using Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) version 1.0. RESOLUTIONTo prevent the URL from being converted to an IP address, type the URL with a trailing slash. For example, type: http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) version 1.0. There have been reported problems with some Java programs not functioning
properly when the URL is converted to an IP address. Check the URL if a
page is not being displayed as it should and see if the URL has been
converted to an IP address. If so, type the address again with a trailing
slash as an additional troubleshooting step.
