SYMPTOMSWhen you install Internet Explorer version 3.0 for Windows 95, any custom settings associated with Web pages you access on the Internet are lost. In addition, any Web pages that were cached before you installed Internet Explorer 3.0 are no longer cached. CAUSEThe folders that Internet Explorer 3.0 uses to store cookies and cached Web pages are different than the folders used by other Internet browsers and previous versions of Internet Explorer. The differences in the cookie and cache folder structures in Internet Explorer 3.0 prevent the Internet Explorer 3.0 Setup program from transferring any existing cookies and cached Web pages to the new folders. Note that custom settings for a Web page may be stored in the cache, in a cookie, or in both the cache and a cookie. RESOLUTIONAny custom settings associated with Web pages you access on the Internet that are lost during the installation of Internet Explorer 3.0 must be restored manually. Any Web pages that are no longer cached after you install Internet Explorer 3.0 must be cached again manually. To cache a Web page, simply load the page in Internet Explorer.
