IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry. Before you edit the registry, you should first make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat). Both are hidden files in the Windows folder. SYMPTOMSAfter you reinstall Internet Explorer 3.0, there may be no Java functionality. CAUSENeither the Classes.zip nor Tclasses.zip file is installed. When Internet Explorer is installed, it registers the version of the Classes files in the registry. When Internet Explorer 3.0 is reinstalled, it does not reinstall these files if the version number of the Classes files is greater than or equal to the value in the registry. When version 3.01 is reinstalled, it does not reinstall the files if the version number of the Classes file is greater than the value in the registry. RESOLUTION
To restore Java functionality, use either of the following methods:
