Active Desktop and Internet Functionality Disabled

SYMPTOMS

Active Desktop and Internet functionality is disabled after installing Cleansweep 3.0 over Internet Explorer 4.0.


CAUSE

Cleansweep 3.0 replaces Internet Explorer 4.0 component files.


RESOLUTION

If Internet Explorer 4.0 and Cleansweep 3.0 are already installed, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to uninstall Cleansweep 3.0. For additional information about uninstalling this program, consult the program's documentation or manufacturer.


  2. Use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to uninstall Internet Explorer 4.0.


  3. Restart the computer.


  4. Reinstall Cleansweep 3.0.


  5. Reinstall Internet Explorer 4.0.


If Internet Explorer 4.0 is already installed without Cleansweep 3.0, follow these steps.
  1. Use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to uninstall Internet Explorer 4.0.


  2. Restart the computer.


  3. Install Cleansweep 3.0.


  4. Reinstall Internet Explorer 4.0.


If neither program is installed, make sure to install Cleansweep before installing Internet Explorer. You may want to contact Cleansweep's manufacturer to inquire about a possible update or patch.
