SUMMARYThis article describes the functions of the Loadwc.exe file included with Internet Explorer. MORE INFORMATIONLoadwc.exe, also known as Load WebCheck, is responsible for customizing some of the settings in Internet Explorer. Loadwc.exe is responsible for adding, removing, and updating subscriptions. Loadwc.exe also propagates settings for user profiles. After restarting your computer during Internet Explorer Active Setup, Loadwc.exe copies Internet Explorer settings that need to be updated for each user profile. This generates the following status message Internet Explorer is preparing personalized settings for <profile>where <profile> is each profile on your computer. When you uninstall Internet Explorer, you see the following status message: Internet Explorer is removing personalized settings for <profile>.This message occurs when Loadwc.exe removes personalized settings for Internet Explorer from each profile. If you install the Windows Desktop Update component with Internet Explorer, the updated Explorer.exe assumes the user profile update functionality of Loadwc.exe. As a result, Loadwc.exe is not loaded.
