• Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3.0, 3.01, 3.02 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you install Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message:

INF install failure. Reason: File copy session already open.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Microsoft Windows 95 files are damaged.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove Internet Explorer, reinstall Windows 95, and then reinstall Internet Explorer. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.



2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.



3. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Internet Explorer in the list of installed programs, click Add/Remove, and then click OK.



4. Click Start, point to Programs, click Windows Explorer, and then double-click the Windows folder.



5. Double-click the Temp folder, and then click Select All on the Edit menu.



6. On the File menu, click Delete, and then close Windows Explorer.

8. Reinstall Internet Explorer.
