How to Use Separate Favorites Folders For Multiple Users

ID: Q193394

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows NT 3.51

SUMMARY

When you use Internet Explorer 4.0 or 4.01 for Windows NT 3.51 with multiple user accounts, links added to the Favorites folder are saved in the same location. There is no option in Internet Explorer to specify a default location.

Internet Explorer 4.0 or 4.01 for Windows NT 4.0 saves favorites to the Favorites folder in the Profiles folder of the current user.

MORE INFORMATION

To have separate Favorites folders for multiple users, use File Manager to create a separate folder for each user account. To simulate the behavior of Internet Explorer for Windows NT 4.0, create a folder named Favorites in each user's folder in the Profiles folder. The Favorites folder has the following default location for Windows NT 4.0:

%SystemRoot%\Profiles\%username%\Favorites
When you want to save a link in the Favorites folder, save it in the Favorites folder in the Profiles folder, or in the folder that you created for the currently logged on user.
