Internet Explorer Cannot Open a Frame in a New Window

SYMPTOMS

When you right-click a Web page you are viewing in Internet Explorer and then click "Open Frame in a new Window", you may receive the following error message:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet Site file://c:\Windows\Web\frm2new.htm

The system cannot find the file specified.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Frm2new.htm file is missing or damaged. The Frm2new.htm file is installed to the Windows\Web folder by the Internet Explorer PowerToys program.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reinstall the Internet Explorer PowerToys program. To do so, navigate to the following Microsoft Web site, and follow the instructions on the screen:

http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ie40/powertoys/
