Cannot Print Selected Area After Installing Frame Spoof Patch

SYMPTOMS

After you apply the Internet Explorer Frame Spoof patch, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

  • You may be unable to print a selected area of a Web page using the Selection option in the Print dialog box in Internet Explorer. When you try to print a selected area, the entire Web page is printed.


  • You may be unable to copy and paste a selected area of a Web page to some programs (for example, Microsoft Excel).



RESOLUTION

CAUTION: If you use the following workaround to resolve the issues described in this article, you effectively deactivate the Internet Explorer Frame Spoof patch. Do not use this workaround if you want the additional security provided by the Frame Spoof patch.

To work around this issue, extract a new copy of the Mshtml.dll file from your original Windows 98 or Internet Explorer 4 media to the Windows\System folder.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
