Cannot Open Excel File from Internet Explorer More Than Once

SYMPTOMS

When you click a link to a Microsoft Excel 97 file a second time while the Excel file is already open, you may receive the following error message:

Could not open file name.xls. Server execution failed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of problems in Internet Explorer version 4.01 Service Pack 1.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain and install Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2, or upgrade to Internet Explorer 5. For information about how to do so, please see the following Microsoft Web site:
