Error Message Internet Launches Will Require a Recent Version of Internet Explorer 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use Web links (or URLs) from Microsoft Mastering Internet Development with ActiveX Technologies, you may receive the following error message:

Internet launches will require a recent version of Internet Explorer 3.0.

CAUSE

Mastering Internet Development does not recognize Internet Explorer 4.0, 4.01, or 5 as an update to Internet Explorer 3.0.

RESOLUTION

An update is available for Mastering Internet Development to resolve this issue. You can obtain the update from the following Microsoft Web site:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/training/technical/midfix.asp

NOTE: This patch currently works with Internet Explorer 4.x only, not with Internet Explorer 5.
