SYMPTOMSWhen you reinstall Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4) after installing Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may receive the following error message when you restart your computer after Windows NT 4.0 SP4 Setup:
RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, click No to continue the logon process. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01 SP2 for Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4. MORE INFORMATION
After you install Windows NT 4.0 SP4, the "Y2ksetup.exe /d" program is run to determine which installed components are year 2000 compliant. When Windows NT 4.0 SP4 was released, Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1) was the latest version of Internet Explorer. The Y2ksetup.exe program does not recognize Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 so it suggests that you install Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1.
