SYMPTOMSWhen you are using Internet Explorer 5 to connect to an FTP server, you may receive the following error message when you double-click a folder:
CAUSEThis behavior can occur if you are trying to open a folder whose name contains an ellipse character (...). Internet Explorer cannot navigate folders with ellipse characters because this character is considered invalid for folder names for MS-DOS and Windows. RESOLUTIONTo work around this behavior, use the command-line FTP tool included with Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 to connect to the FTP server. These tools can navigate these folders. If possible, the folder names should be changed so that they do not include the ellipse character. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. Additional query words:
