Requirements for using MSN Internet Access with a Macintosh are:

  • An existing MSN Internet Access account


  • The account setup information for the MSN account


  • Mac OS 8.0 or later


  • A modem


  • A web browser and an e-mail client




Using an existing MSN account on a Macintosh computer can be done by following these instructions:
  1. Click the Apple menu, and go to Control Panels.


  2. Open the TCP/IP control panel.


  3. Set the TCP/IP settings to connect via PPP.


  4. Set Configure: to Using DHCP Server.


  5. Close the TCP/IP control panel, and save the changes.


  6. Open the Remote Access control panel


  7. Click Registered User, and then enter your MSN username in the Name box as follows: MSN/userID.

    For example, if john_doe was your MSN Member ID, you would enter, MSN/john_doe


  8. Enter your local MSN dial-up number in the Number box.


  9. Click Connect.


To obtain the local dial-up numbers for your area, go to https://rac.msn.com/popcheck/, and follow the instructions provided.
